"For me it is a great privilege, same time a challenge and honour to inaugurate this year’s cultural agenda activities, named “Theotokia”, dedicated to Panagia Koumariotissa of Yenikoy. Specific place apart from its religious content is also being connected with a multi functional attraction point, since it has succeeded in hosting on its premises, a variety of significant events, so far, welcoming different originated visitors, paving the way as well for a peaceful and harmonious coexistence among people.
I have been considering myself as an embraced member of Yenikoy’ s community and its warm and hospital hosts, ever since I first time visited the place, more than two years ago. As having mentioned before, I feel attached to this location, more in a spiritual than in a bodial way, coming back again and again for receiving its beneficial presents.
I have been carrying a vision in luggage, ever since I chose to settle to Istanbul. The one allowing myself to recall past memories due to my family origins and life story narratives, visualizing them together with feedback I receive myself, in the present. Tonight exhibition’s opening offers me the chance to share this vision, been finally put on display as a communicative language of my visualized outcome, so far, with you."
